CHICOLOGICAL GUEST POST Ian Somerhalder 

Our simply wonderful Model Citizen 2013, Ian Somerhalder, dedicates much of his life to ensuring the safety and health of our planet and the creatures on it. He's so much more than a great actor--he's a do-gooder! On today's guest blog, Ian shares why collaborating with Josie was a natural choice for him, and what he hopes to achieve as this year's Model Citizen.

I’m a huge believer in collaboration and community. Businesses, people, and projects all function at a higher level when they combine resources. When I heard about Josie’s commitment to the environment I knew we were meant to work together. Like Josie, I see our world as one big interconnected organism. And I admire her for being a business owner who’s using her company to make the world a better place. I've been a huge fan of Josie's 100% Pure Argan Oil for a while now, so I knew I just had to be a part of something I believe in so much. 

Josie’s doing a pretty incredible thing this year by donating ten percent of the sales of the Model Citizen collection to my foundation to help us with projects like the ISF Animal Sanctuary, where mistreated animals will find a safe haven. The sanctuary will double as a sustainable agriculture farm and triple as a youth education center. I want kids to leave the farm with compassion—compassion for animals and for other people.

Being a model citizen is pretty cool! I encourage you to be a part of the program and help our dreams come true.

I love Josie's commitment to worthy causes on this planet and I commend Ian for doing the same. I love Josie's line and have been using a number of her products for a while. As an animal lover (and vegetarian) it's great to know that proceeds from my purchase will be used to help animals. I look forward to learning more about the Ian Somerhalder foundation and all the good work it is doing. I also look forward to enjoying Ian as an actor. Thank you both for all you do!
