My favorite birthday was my 30th. I was pregnant with our first baby (a sweet girl) and my husband surprised me with a weekend in NYC. We saw a play, had great meals and walked all over the city. My birthday is in December, so NYC was gorgeous with all of the lights and holiday decorations. Best birthday ever!

In 1998, I stayed with my brother on the West coast in CA. We spent a lot of time together, with me learning what he liked doing, day to day. On my birthday, he made all my favorite things to eat, including our mom's tuna casserole. We had made a pact when our mom passed, that we all would take the time to alternately visit with each other when able. He cooked, and I washed all the dishes. Now that's team work! I have family on the West and East coasts. My siblings and my friends are everything to me! Family is not just blood, but people you can trust and depend on, who stay in your life with the good and the bad.

Around my 12th birthday, my mom's sister passed away. With the family being so busy with the funeral arrangements and consoling each other, I felt selfish even mentioning anything birthday related. That day went by slowly, and I hadn't seen very much of anyone. I was getting ready for bed when my parents called me downstairs. I was expecting for them to have a talk with my siblings and I about our aunt, but to my surprise, I walked into a room filled with my family who were singing a very off-key rendition of 'Happy Birthday.' They were holding my favorite cookies & cream ice cream cake, and even though there weren't presents that year, I just remember feeling so loved and so incredibly lucky to have them all there with me. It was a night that reminded me just how important family is and how unimportant material things are.

My favorite birthday was when I turned 22. One of my aunts told me we were going to take Christmas pictures for my birthday, which is a week before Christmas and that I had to dress up. Little did I know that she had invited all of the members in my family over to her house. When I arrived there was nothing out of the ordinary, but as soon as I opened the door, everyone was there to wish me a happy birthday! It was my first surprise birthday party!

My favorite birthday would have to be the one I just had last week. I turned 47... Now that in itself is not that spectacular but the circumstances in this past year have made it a very dear event. I was diagnosed with cancer in July. I have 5 great kids and the one thing I can say as a mother, is that facing your own mortality with 5 kiddos to raise, is mind boggeling. Each and every moment become precious. The things we take for granted are no longer expendable. Cancer has brought a clarity to my life that I don't think I would have otherwise had. My prognosis is great and I hope I can say that next year when I turn 48, that that will be my favorite birthday. One, because I will have survived and two because I was gifted a sage wisdom that can only come about through personal experience. Love and Light.....

I remember My fav birthday was my sixth my mom let me invite my best friend Ashley. I remember being super excited because My brother and I had just gotten kittens and I couldn't wait to show Ashley my kitten. I also remember it being extremley hot which is strange because my birthday is in febuary and it's always cold and rainy. Seems like We spent most of the day outside not even playing with presents. I just remember playing with Ashley and my brother and cousin. Ashley was almost as excited as I was and we had so much fun being together we did not even need all the toys that reccieved (not that I wasn't appreciative) but spending the day with her and just being outside running all over the place made this my alltime favorite birthday ever it also made it extra special and I felt very grown up entertaining my own little guest!!!!!!!!!
