JOSIE'S TIPS Argan Creamy Concealer Crayon

When I decided to launch a new concealer, I knew it had to be easy, fun, and have a yummy, creamy texture. My new Argan Creamy Concealer Crayon is what I came up with! It’s a twist up chubby concealer pencil that you never have to sharpen. On days when I’ve been up late with my baby the night before, or have an unexpected breakout, this concealer comes to the rescue. It covers everything from under eye circles to redness to blemishes, without masking the natural texture of skin. Want to make the most of your crayon? Here are my tips!

Rainbows & whiskers: Remember the song from The Sound of Music that goes, “Raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens?” Well, I changed it a little bit to “Rainbows on roses, and whiskers on kittens,” to help me remember my favorite concealer trick. Draw two rainbow-shaped lines above each eyebrow. Then, draw lines like whiskers on your cheeks, starting at the center of your face. Using your fingers or a sponge, blend the lines completely into your skin. This technique visually lifts your face, adding highlights to your beautiful bone structure, and covering any redness you have on your cheeks.

Set Under Eyes with Powder: I find that I get a little oily under my eyes, so I like to set my concealer with powder to make it stay put all day. I use just a tiny bit of my Argan Matchmaker Powder Foundation, pressing it into my skin with a corner of the sponge.

Fix Boo-Boos: I don’t know about you, but I’m constantly having makeup mess-ups. Whether it’s lip stain that I accidentally draw outside of my lip line, or dark eye shadow that falls on my cheeks, makeup boo-boos can be hard to fix. Creamy Concealer Crayon to the rescue! Just apply a little bit of concealer on a cotton swab, and use it to carefully blend out your boo-boo.

With Argan love,

Josie

JOSIE'S TIPS 100% Pure Argan Oil Light

Have you heard the news? There’s a new Argan Oil in town: 100% Pure Argan Oil Light. I spent years working with chemists to create an Argan Oil with a lighter, fast-absorbing texture that has all the same amazing benefits as the original. And we did it! I’m so happy with the results. The only difference between this new version and the original is the lighter texture—so you can use it from head to toe just like regular Argan Oil. Here are a few times in my life that I love using Argan Light!

Under makeup: After talking to hundreds of my customers, I came across a startling discovery: many of my Argan beauties weren’t using Argan Oil in the morning, under makeup. They were worried about looking too dewy. So when I made Argan Oil Light, I made sure it had a more matte look. On days when I want too look a little less dewy, I apply my 100% Pure Argan Oil Light before putting on my makeup. It immediately sinks into my skin and leaves a semi-matte finish. And I still use my original Argan Oil at night when I need something a little richer!

In humid weather: Living in L.A., the weather is pretty much always dry, which makes my dry skin even drier, causing me to slather on a bunch of Argan Oil. But when I spend time in Pennsylvania during the summer where it’s so humid, my skin needs less hydration since there’s already so much moisture in the air. I’ve been addicted to my Argan Oil Light this summer in PA—I know I’m getting all the amazing benefits of Argan Oil with a lightweight feel.

When I’m a little hormonal: Ok ladies, it’s no secret: during certain times of the month, our skin begins to produce a little more oil than it normally does. This is the perfect time for 100% Pure Argan Oil Light. Plus, like my original Argan Oil, Argan Oil Light actually helps balance skin’s oil production, so your skin will actually equalize over time.

JOSIE'S TIPS Argan Love Your Lips Hydrating Lipstick

Hi Beauties!

Have you tried my new Argan Love Your Lips Hydrating Lipstick yet? This new product is quickly becoming a purse must-have for me. I absolutely love lipstick, but I don’t love formulas that leave my lips dry, chapped, and coated in not-so-good-for-you ingredients. So I made my own—a three-in-one stick that offers the moisture of a balm, the pigment of a lipstick, and the pretty shine of a gloss. Here are a few tips for making the most of this lip lifesaver!

Apply just the shine: The colors of this lipstick are simply amazing. But thanks to the clear outer layer, this lipstick doubles as a natural-looking lip balm. Just apply the clear backside of the lipstick bullet to lips. The outer layer—what I like to call the lipstick’s “Argan Oil jacket”—will hydrate and add some shine to your lips without any color.

Get a Dewy Look on Cheeks: One of my favorite things when I was little was stealing my mom’s lipstick and putting it on my cheeks as blush. And I haven’t grown out of this practice! Because this lipstick is so glossy, it gives cheeks a really pretty dewy effect. Just apply a little to cheeks and blend with your fingertips!

Use a brush for a precise color-only look: What I love so much about this formula is that you don’t need a mirror to apply it. The outer Argan Oil layer works to make the formula hydrating, blendable, and a little glossy, so it’s super forgiving of any slip-ups. But if you’re craving a super defined lip, use a lip brush to pick up some of the color-core; then apply it straight to your lips. The look is less glossy and dewy, but the color is just as gorgeous.

Love and lipstick,

Josie

JOSIE'S TIPS Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée

I’m so excited for my newest launch—my long-wearing, super hydrating Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée. It’s taking the world by storm—it’s already been featured in national magazines like Allure and Glamour, and the beauty editors are loving it! The secret to this bouncy, fun, ultra-gorgeous cheek color? Coconut Water! This amazing formula is 50% Coconut Water, giving your skin all the yummy healthy benefits of the ultra-hydrating miracle beverage. I discovered Coconut Water while I was living on a beach in Oahu before Rumi Joon was born. I guzzled the stuff—and noticed some glowy results on my skin and hair. I’ve been dying to use Coconut Water in my makeup ever since!  Here are a few behind-the-scenes tips for this amazing 14-hour blush:

Application. I like to apply all my makeup with my fingers, including the Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée. Just use one or two fingers, and swirl them in the pot. Then, using a quick, tapping motion, apply the product to the apples of your cheeks and tap upwards towards your temples. If you’re not into using your hands, a synthetic foundation brush also works amazingly with this. Just tap the brush into the gelée and delicately swipe it across your cheeks.

Break the rules! Put it on your lips! Even though I created this product for cheeks, it’s also really nice on the lips. And since the color is sheer and buildable, it’s super forgiving of mistakes. Apply it to clean, dry lips to get the most staying power.

Mix and Match: Because this product has so much Coconut Water in it, it’s super blendable and really easy to blend two colors together to get a unique look. One of my favorite combos is Honeymoon Honey + Poppy Paradise. It gives my skin a blushing, summery look that I’m crazy about right now. Just apply one layer of Honeymoon Honey, and tap some Poppy Paradise on top. Plus, this cheek color lasts 14 hours, so you can put one color on in the morning, and then blend in another color in the evening for a twist on your daytime look. Fun, huh?

Have you tried my new Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée? What are your fave tips? Share!

With love and glowy cheeks,

JOSIE'S TIPS Argan Self-Tanning Body Wash

Hi Beauties!
I've been at QVC since midnight last night presenting my brand new TSV: Argan Self-Tanning Body Wash. Have you been able to catch one of my shows? I'm so proud of this product. It's a body wash that tans your skin in the shower! All you have to do is step into the shower, apply the body wash, wait 30 seconds for it to sink in, rinse, and step out of the shower with a natural-looking glow!!

I've been getting a lot of questions on the QVC forums about the best way to apply the tanner, so I thought I'd answer a few of the most common ones here!

Can I use the Argan Self-Tanning Body Wash on my face?

Yes! Although, I don't recommend using the sponge on your face. :) Instead, use the enclosed gloves. Just pump a very small amount of the foam onto the gloves, and rub your hands together to spread it around. Then, using the tips of your fingers, massage the tanner into your face. Focus the most on areas where the sun would naturally hit your face like the bridge of your nose, and the high planes of your face. I recommend doing this in front of a mirror!

Is the color buildable? Do I need to wait before putting on my clothes?

The tanner is very buildable! After the first use, you'll see a subtle but noticeable increase in tanness. If you continue to us it every day, the color will build to a deeper tan. After you use the tanner, simply step out of the shower and pat skin dry with a towel. Be sure not to rub skin, as that may cause transfer on your towel. (But if that happens, don't worry, the color washes out of fabric.) Immediately apply a rich body moisturizer like the Argan Tan Extending Body Lotion, and put your clothes on!

Do I need to shampoo my hair before I use this instead of after? Will my hair cause streaking?

Yes, applying the Argan Self-Tanning Body Wash should be the LAST thing you do in the shower. Shampooing and conditioning hair after applying the body wash may cause streaking in the formula. I recommend throwing your wet hair up in a bun, and then applying the body wash so that your hair doesn't drip onto your body. You should also turn the water off, or step completely outside the stream of your shower as you apply the product so that you are sure to cover every inch before washing it off.

I always have a hard time using self-tanners on my hands, feet, ankles, and knees. What's the best way to make the color look natural?

Put on the enclosed gloves, and use your hands to delicately paint the Self-Tanning Body Wash onto these areas. When applying to hands and feet, you want the color to be darkest closest to the ankle/wrist and fade out slightly as you reach your fingertips.

Will this stain my shower?

Absolutely not! If you get any drips, just wash them away with warm water. It will come right off!

If you have any more questions, you can reach me here, or check out the QVC forum to see if I've already answered your question!

Here's to glowing summer skin!

JOSIE'S TIPS Argan Creamy Oil Cleansing Treatment

Hi Beauties!

When I created my new Argan Creamy Oil Cleansing Treatment, I was looking for a way to seriously pamper my skin without taking the time out of my busy schedule to go to the spa for a facial. The creamy oil formula I created deep cleans pores with Argan hydration while the included cleansing cloth buffs away dead skin—so you’re left with silky, hydrated skin and smaller-looking pores. What more could you ask for! I use it once a week to give my skin a little pick-me-up. Here are a few of my secrets for making the most out of your jar.

  1. Instead of immediately wiping off the treatment, submerge the entire cleansing cloth in hot water, ring out, and immediately drape it over your face for about 40 seconds, allowing the steam from the cloth to open pores and the cleansing treatment to deep clean. Once the cloth has cooled, use it to wipe off the excess treatment.
  2. Use water scented with essential oils to wipe off your cleansing treatment for a relaxing aromatherapy experience. Fill a bowl or sink with very warm water, and add in a few drops of essential oil or infused water. Try eucalyptus or tea tree for acneic skin, and rosewater or rose oil for dry skin. For irritated skin or rosacea, steep a bag of chamomile tea in the bowl. Dip your cleansing cloth in the infused water and use it to wipe the creamy oil from your face.
  3. Don’t forget your neck! The skin on the neck and décolleté is just as sensitive and precious as the skin on your face, and one of the first places where we begin to show signs of sun damage and aging. Use Cleansing Treatment on these areas to keep your skin healthy and hydrated. And don’t forget to smooth some Argan Oil on after!

If you have questions or comments about using the Argan Creamy Oil Cleansing Treatment, please feel free to post in the comments! I'd love to hear what you think.

With love,

Josie

JOSIE'S TIPS and GIVEAWAY Argan Infinity Intensive Creamy Oil

Hi Beauties!

Your response to my new Argan Infinity Intensive Creamy Oil has been huge! I’m so glad that so many of you are just as in love with it as I am. To help you get to know your new little Argan miracle, I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite ways to use this multi-tasker. Dewy beauty, here we come!

Dewy, Glowy Skin: Infinity Cream makes your skin look instantly dewy on its own. But one of my favorite ways to bump up the glow factor is by mixing a little bit of Infinity Cream with my Argan Powder Illuminzer. The Infinity Cream actually transforms powder products into creamy oils. Apply a little bit of the mixture to your cheekbones, browbones, and down the bridge of your nose. You’ll look like a glowy angel!

Give Delicate Skin Some Love: The skin under your eyes is some of the most delicate on your body. It needs extra love, care, and hydration.  I take a tiny pea-sized amount of Infinity Cream and apply it to my under eye area before I go to bed. When I wake up, my skin looks so much plumper!

No More Crazy Hairs We all get them. Those crazy wispy hairs coming from our hairline or eyebrows that just won’t stay down. Infinity Cream is my quick fix for those pesky hairs. Just warm a little bit of Infinity Cream between your fingers, and use it to smooth over your eyebrows or calm those baby hairs.

Infinity Cream has a million more uses like renewing shine on a week-old manicure, or making a great lip scrub when mixed with sugar. Do you have a unique way that you love to use yours? Tell me in the comments and if I love it, I might pick you to win something special!

Xo,

Josie

JOSIE'S TIPS Magic Marker Lip & Cheek Stain

The temperatures are dropping, and before you know it, everyone’s going to be rocking that smoky eye look that we all love so much. But why does cold-weather makeup have to be so one-note? Can’t we try something a little more…colorful? I'm so psyched that my Magic Marker Lip and Cheek Stain won a 2012 Allure Best of Beauty Award. The prize has renewed the appreciation that my JMC ladies and I have for this long-lasting, lightweight stain. Around the office, we’ve been flaunting Flamenco and whipping out Waltz for a fresh take on the Fall face. Here are my best tips for getting the most from your Lip and Cheek Stain.

Go Bare A bold lip + a bold eye + rouged cheeks = overkill! I suggest you focus on the lips and leave the rest of your face beautifully bare. Choose a bright, bold shade that complements your skin tone. (Flamenco seems to work for everyone!) Too naked for you? Pat some Argan Illuminizer onto your cheekbones and brow bones to give your skin some radiance.

No Undercoat Needed I know it’s tempting, but don’t apply balm before your lip stain. Most lip balms are oil-based, which keeps water-based stain from absorbing into your lips. Instead, lightly scrub lips with an old toothbrush to exfoliate, and follow immediately with lip stain. If you're batty for your balm, put it on top of the lip stain.

Move Beyond Berry Beauty magazines and blogs claim that berries, plums, and reds are the only Fall-appropriate shades. I say, step outside the box! Try a poppy coral like Jive, or a bright pink like Jitterbug (and bonus, it’s part of our Breast Cancer Awareness collection this month—15% of proceeds go to City of Hope). So unexpected! If you’re feeling more traditional, try Fox Trot, a deep berry wine, or Quickstep, a rich plum.

With love and luscious lips,

Josie

P.S. Don’t be afraid to get cozy with your someone special. This lip stain lasts even through a steamy evening of smooches. xoxo

JOSIE'S TIPS Argan High Gloss Lip Quench

I'm super-excited about a yummy new lip product we've come up with here at JMC.  Argan High Gloss Lip Quench drenches dry, cracked lips in Argan Oil, while moisturizing, healing and—bonus! — adding a luscious shine. The ultra-luxurious formula is a combo of nature's best moisturizing ingredients: Pure Argan Oil, Jojoba Oil, and softening Murumuru Butter. Get the most of our your tube with these tips.

1. Apply a thin coat of Argan High Gloss Lip Quench before bed. The moisturizing ingredients will work overtime while you snooze.

2. Swipe a coat of Lip Quench over dried-out lipstick to revive color and keep it from flaking or cracking.

3. Want the appearance of fuller, juicier lips? Who doesn't? Apply Lip Quench only to the center of your pout to make your lips look too good not to kiss.

With love,

Josie

JOSIE'S TIPS Argan Hot Oil Self-Heating Hair Treatment

Hello, my Argan Beauties.

I don't know about you, but my hair really takes a beating in the summertime. Between dips in the ocean and the scorching sun, my hair starts looking real crazy by the time September rolls around. I developed my new Argan Hot Oil Self Heating Hair Treatment to save my tresses and yours. I loved the old-fashioned hot oil, but scurrying back and forth between my microwave and the shower to get it hot—not so much. My Hair Treatment self-heats in the shower, which seriously cuts down on the hassle. Here are my secrets for maxing the benefits of this lock lifesaver.

1. If your hair is fine or thinning, apply half an ampule to the ends of hair only, and then massage a few drops into the scalp. You don't need as much product as the thicker-haired ladies do, so you'll get more than five treatments out of one kit.

2. Extra dry hair? Skip shampooing entirely for a few days, and do one hot oil treatment instead. You'll be nourishing your hair with Argan and Jojoba Oils without stripping hair of its own beneficial oils. The bergamot-geranium scent will refresh your locks--no shampoo needed.

3. Have a spa day with your friends! Each set of treatments includes 5 ampules, so you have plenty to share. Although you’ll get full benefits in only 60 seconds (hair up to 4 times stronger!), leaving the treatment in longer will pamper your strands. Saturate wet hair in the treatment and put it in a shower cap while you and your girlfriends do facials or pedicures. Share the love!

With love and luscious locks,

Josie
