GREEN YOUR ROUTINE Giveaway

Happy Friday! Today I want to give you a few tips about greening your beauty routine. Even though the products you choose are important of course, there is also something to be said for getting a little DIY, too! Since my 100% Pure Argan Oil is, well, pure and just one ingredient, it's easy to incorporate into your favorite home beauty routine. There is also something to be said for what you don't use. Check out my tips. Plus:

I want to know, what are your favorite DIY recipes that incorporate my 100% Pure Argan Oil? The winner will get a free bottle!

Please comment below and include your email address. Only U.S. and Canada residents are eligible to win. The winner will be announced on Facebook on Friday, April 20.

1. Try a Homemade Brightening Masque
I love beauty products, but sometimes a simple at-home treatment does wonders for the skin. One of my favorites is a yogurt masque. Simply take a quarter cup of your favorite plain, greek yogurt and use a paintbrush to apply it to your face. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes. If it begins to dry out, drape a damp washcloth over your face to keep moisture in. Rinse, being sure to remove all the yogurt. The lactic acid in the yogurt will help dissolve dead skin and impurities, leaving your face looking bright and rejuvenated.  Be sure to moisturize with 100% Pure Argan Oil right after washing your face to nourish the skin.

2. Get Dirty
If you wash and style your hair every day, you're doing a whole lot of work and putting an unnecessary strain on the environment. Instead, keep your blowout for a few extra days by using a dry shampoo. You can simply sprinkle it on your roots and rub it in to get rid of any excess oil. You'll save water and electricity by not washing your hair or turning on your blow dryer. Over time, your scalp will get used to not being washed every day and will stop producing so much oil.

3. Say No to Synthetic
One of the most important things to me when I was creating my line was to ensure that my products contain no synthetic fragrance. Many synthetic fragrances contain phthalates which can disrupt the endocrine system and damage the reproductive system. Essential oils are such an amazing alternative. Look for all natural perfumes, or go to the health food store and pick up a few of your favorite essential oils to create your own unique blend!

I love to use Argan oil all over my body. I also enjoy combining it with clay from the bulk section at my local health food store and creating a mask. Argan oil is my number one beauty necessity.

I have made a facial scrub (can be used for the body too) that I use about every other two weeks, or depending on how my skin feels.

1/4 raw sugar
1 Teaspoon of Argan oil
A small squeeze of fresh grapefruit juice

Combine all the ingredients together and scrub gently on the face.

It smells fantastic and sometimes I mix it up and add blueberries, kiwis, etc.

Argan products really do make me feel beautiful. Thank you so much Josie for such a wonderful collection of beauty and health.

Josie- I LOVE your Argan oil! I use it in almost all of my beauty recipes! My favorite is take a big dollop of conditioner, a squirt of honey, a squirt of aloe, and a few dropperfuls of argan oil-mix them together and pop it in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Voila! Amazing moisturizing deep conditioning treatment!

I just love your Argan oil and thanks for your tips Josie! I would like to share my favorite DIY hair mask/treatment using your 100% pure Argan oil. Here we go: 1 raw egg+a dropper of Argan oil+1 tbs of honey+1 tsp lemon juice. Mix it all well and apply right away to dry hair before washing them with a regular shampoo. Cover with a cap and towel and let it sit as long as you want/can. At least an hour i would say. And then wash your hair as usual with shampoo and conditioner. If needed apply several drops of Argan oil as a leave in conditioner/pre styling oil. This is very intensive hair treatment for damaged/stressed out hair. Do it at least once a month or as needed. I love it! Hope you will try it too!

DIY Lemon Scrub = 5 tablespoons sea salt + 1 tablespoon Josie Maran argan oil + 1 lemon.
Mix the sea salt and argan oil until the salt gets coated. This prevents the lemon from dissolving the salt. Then cut the lemon in half and squeeze over the salt/argan oil mixture. Mix again and use as a body scrub!

Hi Josie!

Here is my personal recipe for making an amazing hand soap using your argan oil. I hope you will get the change to try it out!

240g of grated cold processed soap
2 Liters of water
1/2 cup of 100% argan oil
1/2 cup of beeswax

How to:

1. Melt the soap and water together in one bowl and the jojoba oil and beeswax in another
2. Once both melted and at the same temperature combine the two mixtures together and mix with a small hand blender or whisk.
3. Stir frequently every few hours and let the mixture sit overnight.
4. Stir one more time then fill into pump dispensers. The mixture will be thick and creamy.
5. You can have fun with this and even purchase coffee butter and have coffee scented hand soap for your kitchen. You can even add glitter mica to the soap base that you will create.
6. Have fun and enjoy =D

For pregnancy or weight gain, argan oil can be used to prevent/reduce stretch marks! Combine equal parts argan oil and sweet almond oil with a drop or two of rose oil and massage into the skin twice daily. Argan oil is rich in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids, which improves skin’s collagen and elasticity...that's why argan oil is great for preventing and reducing stretch marks!

I generally use finely ground sugar (I would love to use raw sugar, but I'm not in the money class to spend that much on just sugar) and add to that your 100% argan oil to use as a facial scrub. Sometimes I will add 1-2 drops of peppermint oil for a refreshing, uplifting feel. I'm not sure of the amounts of each because I usually eyeball it.

Other times I will mix St. Ives Green Tea Scrub (the first commercial product I have found from a pretty well known brand that does not bother my face/skin sensitivities) with the argan oil which allows me to cleans and moisturize my face in one step.

Almost a year ago I finally tried Wen by Chaz Dean on my hair. It is amazing and very hydrating but I recently started adding your 100% Argan Oil (5-7 dropper fulls) to a 12 oz. bottle of Wen (the scent depends on which bottle I add it to). Now my cleansing conditioner is not only great it has reached a wondrous status.

I can't get enough of my 100% Argan Oil. In fact, I blogged about it here http://urbanchiqueness.com/chique-tip-friday-inspiration/. But, I also love natural DIY beauty secrets. In fact, baking soda is one of my favorite's because it is a natural abrasive. I Just add a little baking soda to a few drops of Argan Oil and I have the perfect moisturizing facial scrub!

Not "beauty" but the one of the most difficult things about the decision to have a bilateral mastectomy was feeling like I would be disfigured. I have been using your argan oil on my incisions. 2 1/2 months later (1 1/2 months of use) they have begun to fade from red to light pink. Hoping soon they won't be noticeable at all.
Amazing. Thank you!

I use the KISS method when it comes to your argan oil. My lips have been brutally dry this winter and I use argan oil with sugar as a lip scrub every night. My lips are so soft and of course kissable. What a great method!

I use Argan Oil on just about everything from my hair down to my toes! It's a great hair and scalp treatment, moisturizer, cuticle oil and i've even used it to heal a fresh tattoo! but my favorite use for this magnificent oil is as a treatment for scars!

As someone who suffers with a 6" keyloid scar as a result of an outpatient surgery gone awry, I have tried just about every "scar" treatment on the market with little success. Then I discovered Josie's Argan Oil and began applying it twice a day being sure to really massage it in to help soften the scar tissue. I began seeing noticeable results not only in the texture of the scar but in the colour as well!

Just when I thought my bikini days were over, I sported one recently walking along the busy beach in Punta Cana without the slightest apprehension. It will never disappear completely but Josie's Argan Oil really did help me get to that point. For anyone else out there who struggles with unsightly scarring, don't waste your money on those "scar-be-gone" treatments on the shelves and invest in some argan oil and reap the benefits offered by mother nature herself!

That's my story..its not a recipe per se, but its certainly my recipe for success in dealing with scarring!

I add a few drops of peppermint or rosemary and massage it into my hair and scalp, then let it sit for a bit before I shampoo. The massage feels great and may help stimulate hair growth, and it really moisturizes my dry hair.

I use the Argan oil by mixing it with my hair conditioner. I take a small bottle and put some hair conditioner in it and put a few drops of the Argan oil and I shake it up to mix it. Then I use it for a week to condition my hair and dry ends in the shower.

I mix enough argan oil with bentonite clay (I use redmond clay & u could use a little water too) to make a muddy consistency & use as a face mask & anywhere u want cleansed, toned, & moisturized at once. The clay has over 50 trace minerals, so it's amazing to help any skin ailments along w/the wonders of the argan oil.

I love Josie Maran's argan oil. It has changed my beauty routine forever. One little concoction I have discovered so far is that I use is to mix a little bit of brown sugar and a drop or two of argan oil and I use it to exfoliate lips or face, or even my feet.

I have even used the argan oil body butter, but when I ran out, I used other body lotion but I added a few drops of what was left over from my bottle or argan oil and mixed it, worked great! Thank you Josie for your amazing products. <3 <3
