GET THE LOOK Christian Dior Spring 2012

The soft hues of winter sometimes need a pop of punch to avoid being too mellow. Christian Dior took complementary shades of pale pinks and barely-there peach and combined it with vivid lips for a look that is both feminine and fun. We thought we'd replicate it so that you can stand out and be eco-chic at the same time. . . plus, this looks great with a face framing hat in the cold months and takes you right into wearing dresses in the warmth of spring.

1. Cleanse skin with the Argan Cleansing Oil followed by Argan Oil Daily Moisturizer with SPF 40+. Give your skin a few minutes to soak up the moisturizer and then even out skin tone with Argan Matchmaker Serum Foundation.

2. Using Argan Magic Brows Brow Marker + Brow Powder Duo, fill in eyebrows. Set with a small dab of Argan Balm for a polished face.

3. Dab the Argan Cream Blush in Sunset on cheekbones blending upward towards top of ears. Then, carefully line and fill your lips with Magic Marker Lip & Cheek Stain in Flamenco.

4. Finish the look by curling eyelashes and apply a coat (or two) of GOGO Instant Natural Volume Mascara on the lashes.

WHAT WE'RE EATING: Winter Breakfast 2012

They say the best way to start a day is breakfast and around here, we agree. But, like any of you busy bees out there, sometimes we just don't have time to slow down for a hearty meal. So this What We're Eating is a roundup of the foods and dishes we'd eat if we had more leisurely mornings where we can savor our time and every bite. My choice works for a simple snack too, but as for Cristina's favorite frittata? Perhaps it's best left for a relaxed Sunday.

What's your favorite morning meal?

Healthy Green Kitchen: Blueberry Lavender Rhubarb Jam

Local Kitchen: Ramp & Asparagus Frittata

Simply Breakfast: Yogurt and Fresh Fruit

Verses from my Kitchen: Homemade Granola Parfait

The Kitchn: Baked Pumpkin Steel Cut Oatmeal

LeelaCyd: Toad in a Hole

BEHIND THE SCENES QVC in January

Just a few shots from our very fun TSV shoot at QVC. Not only was my lovely better half, Ali, there to support me (look at him on set!), but I also took along Dyani, the glue who keeps JMC together and the gorgeous namesake behind the Dyani shades of my makeup.

While we got glammed up inside, she soaked up the chance to see the seasons (like a true California girl) outside. Snow!

GET BALMY Winner

Ms. Icy gave us a very simple answer to our question, "What is your favorite escape?", but with one look at a photograph of the lavender fields in Japan and you can't help but feel the peace and tranquility.

Congratulations Icy and thank you for sharing this beautiful part of the world with us!

ECOSTYLE Hatch

While it's exciting to be pregnant (eating for two!), maternity clothes aren't always as fun. Enter Hatch. This super stylish, thoughtful line takes you from with baby belly to holding a baby since the lines and shapes give you room to grow. Once your pregnancy is over each piece still drapes and fits with ease and comfort. Cool, right? I'm especially a fan of the cozy Wrap which falls somewhere between your favorite sweatshirt and a chic city cape/poncho. I'm also a fan of the fact that they give back to the Every Mother Counts campaign, an organization that spread awareness about maternal and child health issues globally. Check it out here.

BIG NEWS!

I’m so excited to announce that my daughter Rumi Joon is going to have a little brother or sister this summer! Ali and I are expecting our second child, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share this exciting news. Motherhood has been a truly inspiring experience. As you probably know, I became even more aware of what I was putting inside my body and on my skin during my first pregnancy, and that motivated me to create Josie Maran Cosmetics. But I’ve learned a lot about myself by watching Rumi Joon grow up and just seeing her smile makes me realize that being happy is the ultimate beauty secret (that and a lot of Argan Oil on your skin—especially for stretch marks!).

Anyway, I can’t wait to welcome this new addition to my family. I’ve already gotten back into pre-natal yoga, and I’m just bracing myself for the weird food cravings to kick in - last time it was chocolate ice cream with pickles, so who knows what to expect this time! As all of you moms and moms-to–be know, this is an amazing time in a woman’s life, and I’m looking forward to sharing this experience with you.

Thanks so much for your support and love. I'm sending it right back to you!

BEHIND THE SCENES Going Green with Glamour

Sending you love from New York as we shoot for Glamour's Green Issue which you'll see in April! The wardrobe of choice? Giant leaves! Should be interesting. It was a great day hanging out with some other Green Goddesses, the lovely Trinette Faint, Summer Rayne Oaks and Tata Harper as we sifted through piles of shoes and planned on how we're going to save the world.

JOSIE'S PICKS Winter Night In

Sure, the weather has been balmy here in Los Angeles, but I know for many, it's winter! And there's no better way to spend a chilly evening then cozying up with family while sharing some tea or hot chocolate, cookies and a few books, don't you think? These fun Etsy finds make for a great night in and I'm especially loving the recycled and handmade twig lamp that gives off just the perfect amount of light.
